A bright future – the Woolgar Gold odyssey
Undertaken by Strategic Minerals Corporation, a subsidiary of QGold Pty Ltd, this enterprising project involves the ongoing exploration across a broad area within the North-West Minerals Province in Queensland, one of the most prolific base and precious minerals areas in the state. It also encompasses the construction and operation of a greenfield gold mine at the Big Vein South deposit.
The Queensland Government has thrown its support behind the development of the North-West Minerals Province. Their goal is to support the development of new minerals sectors which will drive the future economic growth of Queensland.
The Big Vein South deposit stands as one of Queensland’s major new mineral deposits and has been earmarked by the government as a cornerstone of Queensland’s mineral-rich future. With mining leases already granted, the Woolgar Gold Project is well on its way to enriching the Queensland economy.
QGold operations
Strategic Minerals holds an existing Environmental Authority for exploration and low-risk mining activities for the Big Vein South mining leases. A site-specific Environmental Authority and approval under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act are required to allow for the commencement of construction and operation of the gold mining operations.
The mining operations will be open-cut mining using excavators and trucks. And the gold ore will be processed in an on-site, cutting-edge Heap-Leach Facility and Carbon-In Leach Plant.
The project is a legacy in the making, expected to have an initial mine life of 20 years from the commencement of construction to rehabilitation of the site. During its lifetime the project will bring jobs and boost the economy of the surrounding regional areas.
